The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (NUSTPB) will host an intensive SMR School from 11 to 15 May 2026, in the framework of the ENEN2plus project.
This workshop aims to provide a comprehensive overview of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies and of nuclear facilities and technologies included in Romanian nuclear engineering Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. The course will cover basic principles, specific design features, safety aspects, and available analytical tools, with a focus on building the next generation of the nuclear workforce and ensuring the future of nuclear energy.
Special attention will be given to creating a bridge between M.Sc. students, PhD students, early-career professionals, and experienced specialists in the field, fostering knowledge exchange and professional networking.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will gain:
- An understanding of nuclear energy production in Romania
- Insights into SMR technologies and their integration
- Awareness of workforce training needs for current and future nuclear systems

Financial Support
Through the ENEN2plus project, selected M.Sc. students, PhD students, and early-stage researchers may receive:
- €500 for travel reimbursement
- €400 lump sum for subsistence expenses
