๐Ÿ“Œ Postdoctoral Opportunity at Lund University, Sweden โ€“ Radiological Antagonistic Threats

The Department of Medical Radiation Physics, Malmรถ, at Lund University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to cutting-edge research on radiological and nuclear emergency preparedness.

๐Ÿ”ฌ Research Focus

This postdoctoral position is part of a larger research project funded by the Swedish Agency for Contingencies (MSB), focusing on preventive measures against antagonistic use of radioactive substances in public environments. The project aims to improve retrospective dosimetry techniques to detect large-scale radiation exposures. The research will involve:

โœ… Developing and validating detection methods for ionizing radiation exposure
โœ… Working with luminescent detectors (TL/OSL materials) and biodosimetry techniques
โœ… Collaborating with Swedish Defence Research Agency, Total Defense Research Institute (Umeรฅ), and ร–rebro University
โœ… Conducting experimental validation, including in-situ radiation measurements

๐Ÿ›  Responsibilities

  • Theoretical and experimental research on radiation dose reconstruction
  • Development of detection methods for large-scale radiation exposure events
  • Experimental validation of computational models
  • Possible involvement in robotic or UAV-borne radiation detection
  • Limited teaching and supervision of students
  • Participation in national radiation protection preparedness training

๐ŸŽ“ Qualifications

Required:
โœ” PhD in medical radiation physics, nuclear physics, or technical physics
โœ” Strong research background in radiation dosimetry and ionizing radiation interactions
โœ” Organizational and collaborative skills in interdisciplinary projects

Preferred:
โž• Experience in personal and retrospective dosimetry
โž• Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
โž• Interest in teaching and supervision
โž• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
โž• BE Driving License

The Medical Radiation Physics, Malmรถ research group is part of the Department of Translational Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, located at Skรฅne University Hospital, Malmรถ. The group collaborates closely with the BAR group at the Department of Physics in Lund, providing access to state-of-the-art laboratories.
