Purdue Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series ‘Understanding Tomorrow’s Nuclear Energy’

Purdue Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series in conjunction with Understanding Tomorrow’s Nuclear Engineering Lecture Series are organising an  hybrid event “Tough Tech’ for Climate: Innovation Challenges, University Responsibilities, and Some Comments on the Nuclear Role.” The event is taking place on the 30 November  2022 at 3.30-5.30 pm ET.

Purdue University and Duke Energy are jointly exploring the feasibility of using advanced nuclear energy to meet the West Lafayette campus long-term strategy needs. The Understanding Tomorrow’s Nuclear Energy lecture series is designed for all audiences from industry experts to community members. All events will be presented in a hybrid format for both in-person and virtual attendance.

The panel will include:

  • Richard K. Lester, Associate Provost of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Lefteri Tsoukalas, Professor and Former Head of the School of Nuclear Engineering
  • Morgan Smith, Senior School of Nuclear Engineering; President of Purdue Chapter of Women in Nuclear Engineering (WIN); Vice President of Purdue Chapter of American Nuclear Society (ANS)

ENEN2plus webinar ‘Nuclear Energy for a Cleaner Future’

An online career event is being organised in the frame of the ENEN2plus Project to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the first criticality of the Fermi pile, achieved on 2 December 1942 in Chicago.   It will take place on 2 December 2022 at 2 pm CET.

The event will feature:

  • connections to operating research reactors arranged by CIRTEN
  • an interview to the historian and Pulitzer Prize winner: Richard Rhodes realised by ENEN & CIRTEN
  • a panel discussion on “Nuclear Energy for a Cleaner Future” moderated by ENEN
  • a Career Event led by the European Nuclear Society, with the participation of Thomas Thor

EMSNE Certification

The European Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering (EMSNE) is a Certificate delivered by the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN) Association, with the endorsement of all its members, in order to certify the highest quality standards of Nuclear Engineering Education and the European dimension pursued achieved by the EMSNE laureate.

 

The objectives of the European Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering framework are:

  • to certify and secure the highest standards of Quality in the Nuclear Education in Europe combining the joint state-of-the-art know-how of the European universities,
  • to ensure the highest Quality of Training provided to European Nuclear students by full use of the unique nuclear research and industrial facilities throughout Europe, towards analytic, resourceful and inventive nuclear engineering,
  • to encourage and develop a common Nuclear Safety Culture throughout Europe,
  • to foster the international exchanges to create a network of nuclear engineers and scientists of different nationalities, aiming to promote the contact and collaboration between students from several countries with different educational views, different nuclear reactor technologies, and different nuclear policies.
