Position for: FG IV- Project Officer – Scientific

The Unit G.I.4 is part of Department I for Nuclear Safety within the Directorate G. The major objective of the Department is to provide scientific support to the EU nuclear safety policy. The Unit G.I.4 contributes to the technological innovation of nuclear reactor safety through experimental testing, numerical simulation and modelling.

The candidate should have a doctoral diploma or a completed university studies of at least three years in the scientific fields related to physics, nuclear or mechanical engineer or nuclear material science with experience in neutronics and thermal-hydraulics assessment of reactor cores, systems and components. The ideal candidate has scientific experience using relevant numerical codes.

The activities consist of performing analytical studies using appropriate numerical tools on new reactor system design to assess their robustness in terms of performance and safety. Model development as well as validation and benchmark exercises are part of the scientific work.
