{"id":2114,"date":"2019-09-30T14:37:37","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T12:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/enen.eu\/?page_id=2114"},"modified":"2019-09-30T14:37:37","modified_gmt":"2019-09-30T12:37:37","slug":"afranest-african-network","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/enen.eu\/index.php\/international\/afranest-african-network\/","title":{"rendered":"AFRANEST African Network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row full_width=&#8221;stretch_row&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1566468743588{margin-bottom: 45px !important;padding-top: 80px !important;padding-bottom: 70px !important;background-image: url(https:\/\/enen.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/40762436602_d00220e443_o.jpg?id=1764) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;<strong>AFRANEST African Network<\/strong>&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h1|font_size:56|text_align:left|color:%23ffffff|line_height:1.4&#8243; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1569846968958{margin-bottom: 5px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text basel_color_scheme=&#8221;light&#8221;]African Network for Education in Nuclear Science and Technology[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>AIM OF THE NETWORK<\/h3>\n<p>The Africa Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA) established the AFRA Network for Education in Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA-NEST) in order to implement AFRA strategy on Human Resource Development (HRD) and Nuclear Knowledge Management (NKM).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>OBJECTIVE<\/h3>\n<p>The main objective of AFRA-NEST is to facilitate operation and networking in higher education, training and related research in Nuclear Science (NS&amp;T) in the African Region through<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sharing of information and materials of nuclear education and training;<\/li>\n<li>Developing harmonized approaches for education in nuclear science and technology in Africa by establishing reference curricula and facilitating mutual recognition of degrees;<\/li>\n<li>Promoting effective cooperation and sharing of resources and capabilities at national and regional level;<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating the exchange of students, teachers and researchers;<\/li>\n<li>Serving as facilitator for communication between the network member organizations and other regional networks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>STRATEGY<\/h3>\n<p>The strategies for implementing the objectives are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to use ICT for web-based education and training,<\/li>\n<li>recognition of Regional Designated Centres (RDCs) for professional nuclear education in nuclear science and technology,<\/li>\n<li>organization of harmonized and accredited programs at tertiary levels and<\/li>\n<li>awarding of fellowships\/scholarships to young and brilliant students for teaching and research in the various nuclear disciplines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>FUNCTIONS<\/h3>\n<p>Essentially, the main function of the AFRA-NEST is to foster sustainable human resource development and nuclear knowledge management to satisfy the needs of African countries with\/without higher education in the priority areas of non-power and power applications of nuclear energy.
